Vitamin B5 is also known as pantothenic acid, or Pantothenate. It is a water-soluble vitamin from the B group of vitamins. It helps produce energy by breaking down fats and carbohydrates and promotes healthy skin, hair, eyes, and liver. Pantothenic acid is also used in the manufacture of hormones, red blood cells, and acetylcholine, an important neurotransmitter (signal carrier between nerve cells). Vitamin B5 protects cells against damage from peroxides which cause cancer.
