The Oxford dictionary defines science as “The intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment” I argue we cannot have science without math.

Math is frequently associated with science and is certainly relied upon by scientists the pages of any modern biology, chemistry, physics, geology, or psychology books/journal are peppered with calculations, statistics, and graphs. Since mathematics provides the language in which the natural sciences (biology, chemistry and physics) aspire to describe and analyse the universe, there is a natural link between mathematics and the natural sciences.

A computer scientist specializes in the theory of computation and the design of computational systems. They design and or improve computational systems. Computation is the principle, the computer is simply the tool. Computation allows to study many things that occur naturally and that’s why it is a science. This is not to say that it is not a technical subject.
